Candle gazing, meditation & tree poses on the golf course…

We absolutely loved hosting our first ever yoga retreat here at Lanhydrock at the end of October – and it certainly won’t be the last!

From outdoor yoga on the golf course (something Lanhydrock and its members have never seen before!) to candle gazing, meditation and utter relaxation, it was a perfect weekend for our retreat visitors to really let go of all tension and stress from the day-to-day, take the time to honour the self, and make the most of our tranquil location here in the heart of the Cornish countryside.

The retreat was organised and led by Jill Buxton, Dru Yoga Teacher, who brought a great energy and calming atmosphere to the hotel, providing amazing yoga sessions suitable for all abilities.

Jill said, “It was such an inspiring and positive weekend with such a wonderful group of people, we shared fun and laughter and made connections and new friendships.”

“Clare and her staff at the hotel were all fabulous and made us feel very comfortable and welcome. The food was delicious, the views amazing, and the rooms and the ambiance were perfect for this relaxing weekend.”

“We explored a range of yoga postures, flowing sequences, activations and stretches and it was wonderful to connect with nature during our outdoor yoga session! We also sampled candle gazing, stillness, meditation – and each session ended in a nurturing relaxation. A brilliant success – thank you all, can’t wait to do it again.”

We also had some lovely feedback from some of the guests who took park in the retreat.

Mandy Reach said, “What a wonderful weekend we had at the yoga retreat. Was truly a real treat! To relax with friends located at the heart of Cornwall was fabulous. Clare and her team couldn’t do enough for us. Clean, friendly with great food too! The very experienced yoga instructor made us all feel very welcome, really enjoyed the flowing classes which would suit any level. Highly recommend the retreat. Will definitely be back!”

Nick Buxton said, “I found the hotel and studio an excellent, peaceful venue to promote relaxation and focus on yoga, and the meals were brilliant and promptly served. Jill ran some lovely sessions – giving very clear instructions and using a wide variety of techniques and was easily able to adapt to varied abilities or requests. Everyone in the group got on well, and I would both consider attending another, and highly recommend the experience to others!”

Our lovely Clare (Owner and Director) even got stuck into some of the yoga herself! She said, “I really enjoyed the opportunity to join in for a change, having worked with Jill on offering a weekend break with a difference. It was great to practise some poses after the morning warm up, adjacent to the first tee of the golf course with some golfing friends making sideways glances! This followed a walk to the top of the golf course where I was able to share some of my experiences of running the place with my husband Graham for almost thirty years now. Maybe some relaxing yoga was well overdue!”
